We would really like a LinkedIn presence, it makes business and career sense In a world where "networking is everything". It seems like a strange choice for a fledgling business to choose to be absent from such a platform. However, our decision is rooted in the very same principles we teach our clients: Privacy, Security, and Data Sovereignty.

With the new UK Government mandated age verification rules, LinkedIn, and many other platforms, now require users to verify their identity using "government-approved" data brokers. While this is framed as a safety measure, we believe it is a significant risk to our personal freedoms.

"If a service asks for your passport just so you can post a status update, the price of admission is far too high."

The Problem with Data Brokers

To comply with these rules, platforms outsource your sensitive ID documents to third-party verification companies. Here is why we refuse to participate:

  • A Track Record of Failure: Several of these "verified" brokers have already suffered major data breaches in the last two years, exposing the passports and home addresses of millions.
  • The "Honeypot" Effect: Centralized databases of government IDs are the #1 target for hackers. Once that data is gone, you can't "reset" your face or your passport number like a password.
  • Mission Consistency: We advocate for Data Sovereignty. Handing over your biometric data to a private broker is the ultimate loss of control.

Practicing What We Preach

We teach our clients how to stay safe from scams and keep their data private by reducing their attack surface and hardening their digital defenses. We'd be hypocrites if we preached privacy while forcing our own digital lives into systems that treat identity as a commodity.

You can still find us right here on our website, via our encrypted messenger, or at the end of a phone line. We prefer the "human-to-human" approach, one where a passport check isn't required for a friendly conversation.
